THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill awareness, self-understanding, and acceptance to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards many of life's situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the individual and therapist alike. But in the end, making small changes in self-defeating behavior and in feelings of sadness, fear, and distress can bring life-altering results - and with my services, I will help you achieve just that.

I implement a number of modalities designed to help individual gain awareness of their patterns, note these patterns when they arise, and work with challenging and changing the reactions that can create distress and pain in our lives.

MY BACKGROUND

My journey as a therapist began when I started my own process of self-exploration and healing in my 20s. The help I received while processing my past traumas, depression, and substance use led to my vocation to help others through similar experiences.

I have developed a unique style of therapy combining client-centered therapy with behavioral skills, specifically designed after combining my therapeutic experiences with my training and studies. My schooling at Naropa University focused on mindfulness and meditation practices, key practices to quiet the patterns of thought and belief that can lead to emotional distress. 

​

Applying my graduate studies over the years with field experience has led to a synergy between talk and action. Talking about our emotions is a large step towards finding relief and acceptance, but action can create lasting change in both thought and behavior.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual sessions are private sessions where we will review the thoughts, beliefs, and fears that can lead to emotional turmoil, be it from the past, in the present, or looking into the future. Part of the therapeutic process will be working together to develop a plan for treatment, but it is also important to offer time and space to discuss any issues that are of importance in the moment. That is why I offer a flexible approach to therapy that is structured at times and open at others.
